Introducing the first patch of the In Thrust We Trust series: Moonshot.
Inspired by a part of President Kennedy's speech on September 12, 1962 at Rice University in Houston Texas: "We choose to go to the moon in this decade and do the other things, not because they are easy, but because they are hard, because that goal will serve to organize and measure the best of our energies and skills, because that challenge is one that we are willing to accept, one we are unwilling to postpone, and one which we intend to win, and the others, too."
This patch is a little something we wanted to do for someone very special to us. As a gesture of goodwill, and also to do our part in helping to raise awareness for breast cancer.
A little bit of background of what the Moonshot is all about: This past March, the news broke that after 7 years, breast cancer had returned for someone very close to our hearts. This was now the THIRD time. As it turns out, the cancer was now far more aggressive than ever before. The oncologists determined that undergoing intensive radiation treatments immediately, and within the next month, performing a mastectomy would be necessary as a precaution to attempt to stop the spreading of the cancer.
We are happy to report that the surgery was performed in mid-April, and as of 1 July, she will not need to undergo further treatments as far as anyone can tell. However, there is still a long way to go before we can call it a full recovery.
This patch serves as a fundraiser, in which every dollar of your purchase will go directly to helping with her outstanding medical expenses from her surgery and treatments that were not covered by Medicare. Proof of donation will be posted to the AGL Facebook and Instagram pages for full transparency upon the sell out of this patch, or a later time of our choosing (depending on her situation). The best part of it, is that she has NO IDEA this is being done for her benefit! :-)
